Two of Stanford's players, a locke and their starting flyhalf, sustained season-ending injuries this past weekend in the game against Chico. It must have been a brutal game and I'm sure both teams were playing dirty. Chico always does and Stanford did this year in their game against us. This year just seems to be the year of serious injuries for multiple teams.
I really like referee reports when they're informative. I hate the ones that mention all about how the ref was feeling that day and whatnot but only say about two sentences about the game. The ones that I love are the cheesy reports. The one for our game against Davis is over the top. It's hilarious. The ref latched onto the fact that we are the Bears and ran with it. He called one player dangerous like an angry bear and then referred to the rest of the team as den mates. CORNY!

Just because Chico and Stanford consistantly beat you doesnt mean they play dirty. Grow up.
I will admit that I probably shouldn't have made assumptions about a game I did not see. Lo siento. However, I would like to point out that when I wrote this post it was while the Goff report still said that the girl had been punched in the jaw. I usually assume that when punches are thrown that the game was dirty.
To the second commentor, own your words. At least the first commentor was willing to stand behind what he said (which I then accidently deleted by hiting the wrong button). As you so charmingly put it, "Grow up."
Now feel free to comment all you want but this is the last I'll say on the subject because I really could care less.
I understand that you read Goff and got bad information. But your comment says so much more. It made me so mad that it was hard to fall to sleep after I read it. I know you love your program as much as I love mine. Chico State plays with heart. We leave that pitch knowing we gave it our all. I quote you as saying, "Chico State always plays dirty." You still have yet to give an example of our dirty play. Perhaps we should not run so hard... So you will not miss a tackel. Maybe we should not dive for tries... So that you can hold them up. Ruck hard, tackel hard, scrum hard, run hard, that's what we do. This is the beautiful game of rugby. Please do not repeat what you have heard from other people/teammates and assume it's true. Look with your own eyes and then blog the truth.
I would never insult Cal, Stanford or Pac Coast rugby. I fully respect the caliber of players that come from this region and love that we have a league that challenges us. We should not hate each other or talk down on one another because Sweet 16's is around the corner and we will be there cheering for you.
I'm sure you're over this subject by now and I'm sorry for adding one more comment to the table but I could not let it slide.

Would it be a safe assumption that if someone broke her neck in a game (ending not only her rugby season, but also her rugby career) then that game was dirty? Would it be a safe assumption that it was a dirty game when our Eagle player broke her leg so badly that she needed screws in her bone; and took her out of her entire last season of collegiate eligibility? The answer is, hell no!
Both of these injuries happened to Chico State players while playing Cal. Have you ever heard a peep out of us about how dirty you all play? Once again, hell no! We always have, and always will run, tackle, scrum, and ruck as hard as we possibly can. If our intensity and our desire to play hard and win is too much for you to handle then just stand up and say that. But QUIT giving this lame excuse that we are dirty because in rugby hard and dirty are not synonymous. We respect teams that play hard and do not whine or cry about our injuries and our losses on the field. Teams deserve what they earn on the pitch; and if the intensity and the heart is lacking it will show on the scoreboard.
